The ULN2003 is designed as one kind of the high voltage, high current, darlington arrays. Ideally suited for interfacing between low level logic circuitry and multiple peripheral power loads, it features continuous load current ratings to 600mA for each of the seven features. At an appropriate duty cycle depending on ambient temperature and number of drivers turned ON simultaneously, typical power loads totaling over 260W can be controlled.
It has five features. (1) TTL, DTL, MOS or CMOS compatible inputs. (2) Output current to 600mA. (3) Output voltage to 95V. (4) Transient protected outputs. (5) Dual in-line plastic package or small outline IC package. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its output voltage, Vce would be 50V. (2) Its input voltage would be 30V. (3) Its continuous output current would be 500mA. (4) Its continuous input current would be 25mA. (5) Its power dissipation would be 1.0W for one darlington pair. (6) Its operating temperature range would be from -20°C to +85°C. (7) Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to +150°C.
Also some electrical characteristics about it. (1) Its output leakage current would be max 50uA at 25°C and would be max 100uA at 70°C. (2) Its collector to emitter saturation voltage would be typ 0.9V and max 1.1V with condition of Ic=100mA, Ib=250uA and would be typ 1.1V and max 1.3V with condition of Ic=200mA, Ib=350uA and would be typ 1.3V and max 1.6V with condition of Ic=350mA, Ib=500uA. (3) Its input current would be typ 0.93mA and max 1.35mA. (4) Its input capacitance would be typ 15pF and max 25pF. (5) Its clamp diode leakage current would be max 50uA at 25°C and would be max 100uA at 70°C. And so on.
