The TLP280GB/GR is designed as a very small and thin coupler, suitable for surface mount assembly in applications such as PCMCIA fax modem, programmable controllers. It consists of photo transistor, optically coupled to two gallium arsenide infrared emitting diode connected inverse parallel, and can operate directly by AC input current.
It has five features. (1) Collector emitter voltage is 80V (min). (2) Its Current transfer ratio is 50% (min) and rank GB is 100% (min). (3) Its isolation voltage is 2500Vrms (min). (4) UL recognized: UL1577, file No. E67349. (5) BSI approved: BS EN 60065 1994, BS EN 41003 1997, certificate No. 8143, 8144. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) For the LED its forward current would be 50mA. (2) Its forward current derating would be -0.7mA/°C. (3) Its pulse-forward current is 1A. (4) Its junction temperature is 125°C. (5) For the detector its collector to emitter voltage is 80V. (6) Its emitter to collector voltage is 7V. (7) Its collector current is 50mA. (8) Its collector power dissipation is 150mW. (9) Its collector power dissipation derating is -1.5mW/°C. (10) Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 125°C. (11) Its operating temperature range would be from -55°C to 100°C. (12) Its lead soldering temperature would be 260°C. (13) Its total package power dissipation would be 200mW. (14) Its total package power dissipation derating would be -2.0mW/°C. (15) Its isolation voltage would be 2500 (AC, 1min, RH<=60%) Vrms.
Also some individual electrical characteristics and isolation characteristics about it. (1) For the LED its forward voltage is min 1.0V and typ 1.15V and max 1.3V. (2) Its capacitance is typ 60pF. (3) For the detector its collector to emitter breakdown voltage would be min 80V. (4) Its emitter to collector breakdown voltage would be min 7V. (5) Its collector dark current would be typ 0.01uA and max 0.1uA and it would be typ 2uA and max 50uA at 85°C. And so on.
