The ITR20403 consists of an infrared emitting diode and a silicon phototransistor encased in a black thermo-plastic housing. The advantage of the device is the small package. Phototransistor receives radiation from the IR LED only, and avoids the noise from ambient light.
The ITR8010 (Slot Optical Switch) is a gallium arsenide infrared emitting diode which is coupled with a silicon photo transistor in a plastic housing. The packaging system is designed to optimizes the mechanical resolution, coupling efficiency, and insulates ambient light. The slot in the housing a provides a means of interrupting the signal with printer, scanner, copier, or other opaque material, switching the output from an " ON" to" OFF" state.
