The HLC2705 is a kind of encoder detector. It is designed to sense speed and direction of mechanical motion. Applications include rotary and linear encoders. There are some features as follows. First is side-looking plastic package. The second is TTL/LS/CMOS compatible. Then is on-chip quadrature logic which provides tach and direction outputs. Next is resolution to 0.018 in (.457). The fifth is sensitivity versus temperature compensation. The sixth is mechanically and spectrally matched to SEP8506 and SEP8706 infrared emitting diodes.
What comes next is about the absolute maximum ratings (25 free air temperature unless otherwise noted). The duration of output short to VCC or ground is 1.0 sec. The Topr (operating temperature) is from -40 to +85. The Tstg (storage temperature) is from -40 to +85. The soldering temperature (5 sec) is 240.
The following is about the electrical characteristics (-40 to +85 unless otherwise noted). The minimum VCC (operating supply voltage) is 4.5 V and the maximum is 5.5 V. The maximum ICC (supply current) is 12.0 mA at VCC=5.25 V. The minimum VOL,TACH (tach output,inactive) is 4.5 V at VCC=5 V, IOH=0. The maximum VOH,TACH (tach pulse level,active) is 0.4 V at VCC=5 V, IOL=1.6 mA. The minimum VOH,DIR (direction output,B leads A) is 2.4 V at VCC=5 V, IOH=10A. The maximum VOL,DIR (direction output,A leads B) is 0.4 V at VCC=5 V, IOL=1.6 mA. The minimum TPW (tach pulse width) is 3.0s and the maximum is 20s at VCC=5 V, IOL=1.6 mA.
