The AV101-12 is designed as HIP3 variable attenuator with frequency range from 0.8GHz to 1.00GHz. It is a current controlled variable attenuator from alpha's series of HIP3 components. It is designed to meet the wide dynamic range required in spread spectrum wireless base station applications. A monolithic quadrature hybrid is teamed with a silicon PIN diode pair in a plastic surface mount package reducing size and assuring consistency from part to part.
It has five features. (1) +50 dBm IP3 typical. (2) Low loss 1 dB typical. (3) Attenuation 30 dB typical. (4) Good VSWR <1.5:1 typical. (5) Small SOIC-8 package. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its RF input power would be 0.5 W CW, 4W at 12.5% dyty cycle. (2) Its control current would be 50mA per diode. (3) Its operating temperature range would be from -40°C to +85°C. (4) Its storage temperature range would be from -40°C to +85°C. (5) Its maximum reverse diode voltage would be -10V. (6) Its electrostatic discharge would be +125V. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics about it. (1) Its frequency range would be from 0.80 to 1.00 GHz. (2) Its insertion loss (0 mA control current) would be typ 1dB and max 1.5dB. (3) Its attenuation @ 3.0 mA control current (900 MHz) would be min 18.5dB and max 21.5dB. (4) Its VSWR all ports would be typ 1.5 and max 1.8. (5) Its input 3rd order intercept would be min +47dBm and typ +50dBm. (6) Its group delay would be typ 0.9ns and max 1.2ns. And so on.
