The 84301 is designed as 4-port fast ethernet controller with a rich set of operating modes and features. It is manufactured as a single-chip VLSI device to simplify and enhance the development of multi-port ethernet embedded systems such as bridges, switches and routers.
It has many features. The first one is low power CMOS technology. The second one is 4-port ethernet controller optimized for switching hub, multiport bridge/rounter, server applications. The third one is it supports 100base-T4, 100 base-TX, 100base-FX & 10base-T transceivers. The fourth one is it meets ANSI/IEEE 802.3 and ISO 8802-3 standards for thicknet (10base-5), thin net (10base-2) and twisted pair (10base-T). The fifth one is standard 10MBit/sec serial mode or programmable MII ethernet interface for 10/100MBit applications. The sixth one is preable generation and removal. The seventh one is automatic 32-bit FCS (CRC) generation and checking. The eighth one is collision handling, transmission deferral and retransmission with automatic jam and backoff functions. And so on. That are all the main features above.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its Vcc supply voltage which would be from -0.3V to 6.0V. The second one is about its all inputs and outputs with respect to GND which would be from -0.3V to Vcc+0.3V. The third one is about its package power dissipation which would be 2.2W at 70°C. The fourth one is about its storage temperature range which would be from -65°C to +150°C. The fifth one is about its temperature under bias which would be from -10°C to +80°C. The sixth one is about its lead temperature (soldering, 10sec) which would be 260°C. The last one is about its body temperature (soldering, 30 sec) which would be 220°C. And so on. The 84302 is designed as quad 100/10 Mbps ethernet controller with RMON/SNMP management counters. The device integrates four independent channels on one IC.
It has many features. The first one is improved version of SEEQ 84301 & 84C300. The second one is four independent MAC channels. The third one is 100/10 Mbps. The fourth one is full RMON, SNMP and ethernet management counter support per port. The fifth one is about its 32-bit, 50MHz interface to external bus - 1.6Gbps bandwidth. The sixth one is MII and 7-wire interface to external PHY. The seventh one is 16-bit interface to internal registers and management counters. The eighth one is management interface (MI) to external PHY. The ninth one is independent 128 byte receive & transmit FIFO's per port with programmable watermarks. The tenth one is full and half duplex. The eleventh one is automatic CRC generation and checking. And so on. That are all the main features.
