The TDA8391 is designed as a one-chip PAL colour decoder which is designed to be used on combination with the P2CCD delay line and the filter combination.The device combines the circuits that are required for the identification and demodulation of pulse signals, RGB matrixing and amplification. Inductive compoments are not required due to the intergration of the filters and the delay lines.The TDA8391 provides a crystal-precise reference signal for the clock generator circuits in TDA8451A and TDA8452A/8453; therefore, no adjustments are required to the filters and delay times.
TDA8391 has many features.The first one is that it would have a black-current stabilizer which controls the black currents of the three electron guns.The second one is that it would have contrast and brightness control of inserted RGB signals.The third one is that it would be self aligned oscillator.The fourth one is capactive coupling with black level clamping of the luminance, colour difference and RGB inputs.The fifth one is equal black levels for internal TV and external signals.The sixth one is that it would have 12MHz bandwidth.The next one is emitter follow outputs fir driving the RGB output stages.That are all the features.
