As shown in the figure is a 48MHz crystal oscillator composed of HCMOS integrated circuit. The fundamental frequency of the crystal is 16MHz, but the oscillator is compelled to work on triple frequency harmonic. The importance of harmonic oscillator is to inhibit the fundamental frequency of the crystal.
