The TVGA8900D is one kind of successor to the popular TVGA8900CL and TVGA8900C.The TVGA8900D is a highly integrated and cost effective solution for high performance VGA(video graphics array) systems.The built-in data bus transceiver and feature connector support mean a minimum motherboard solution can be achieved with obly three support chipsLthe TDK8001 truecolor DAC/clock chip,and two pieces 256K x 4 DRAM.Programmable DRAM timing allows the designer to choose either slower speed DRAM for a cost saving solution or faster speed DRAM for high speed performance.Display support for super VGA,EGA,CGA and MDA monitor assures TVGA8900D solutions can be matched up with virtually any monitor on the market.The TVGA8900D also provides improved speed over the TVGA8900CL and TVGA8900C.This is achieved by zero-wait state direct memory write ISA bus performance,faster base DRAM clock(48 MHz),and IMB linear addressing.The linear addressing eliminates memory bank switching and increases the speed for software that accesses more than 256K of memory.
The TVGA8900D has some features:(1)single-chip solution for IBM PC/AT and compatible,PS/2 and compatible;(2)Built-in data bus transceiver and feature connector support;(3)only one 32Kb EPROM required to achieve 16-bit BIOS operation speed;(4)fully hardware compatible with VGA,EGA,CGA,MDA and hercules at the register level;(5)programmable DRAM timing;(6)requires only two 256K x 4 DRAM chips for VGA solution;(7)160 pin PFP package;(8)high-resolution drivers available;(9)supports 80/132-column text in 25,30,43,or 60 rows;(10)supports linear addressing.
The absolute maximum ratings of TVGA8900D can be summerized as:(1)power supply voltage:4.75 to 5.25 V;(2)input voltage:GND to Vdd V;(3)operating temperature:0 to 70°C and (4)storage temperature:-40 to 100°C.
The TVGA9000 is designed as a versatile and fullfeatured signal-chip solution for low cost VGA systems.The TVGA9000 provides register-level compatibility, enhanced graphics and text modes, support for 256K x 4 DRAM, plasma display control, and support for analog VGA, EGA, CGA and MDA monitors.
It has many features.The first one is single-chip solution for IBM PC/AT, PS/2 and compatibles.The second one is fully hardware compatible with VGA, EGA, CGA, MDA and hercules at the register level.The third one is it requires only two 256Kx4 DRAM chips for VGA solution.The fourth one is it supports 640x400, 640x480, 800x600 in 256 colors.The fifth one is it supports 800x600, 1024x768, and 768x1024 in 16 colors.The sixth one is it supports 132-column text in 25, 30, 43 or 60 rows.The seventh one is it supports edsun CEG DAC.The eighth one is it supports plasma display.The ninth one is it have built-in data bus transceiver.The next one is that it have built-in feature connector support.The next one is that it would have only one 32KB EPROM requied to achieve 16-bit BIOS operation.The next one is that it would have minimum chip count offers low-cost VGA board level solution (desides DRAM only one EPROM, DRC and clockchip required).The next one is that it would be high-resolution drivers available.The next one is that it would have 160 pin, PFP package.That are all the features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow.The first one is about its power supply voltage which would be min 4.75V and typ 5.0V and max 5.25V.The second one is about its input voltage which would be min GND V and max Vdd V.The third one is about its pin voltage with respect to GND which would be min -0.5V and max Vdd+0.5V.The fourth one is about its operating temperature range which would be from 0 to 70°C.The fifth one is about its storage temperature which would be from -40°C to 100°C.It should be noted that stresses above those listed under absolute maximum ratings may cause permenent device failure.Functionality at or above these limits is not implied.Exposure to absolute maximum ratings for extended periods may effect device reliability.
