The PYD1998 is designed as digital dual element pyrodetector. It combines the time-proven, ceramic dual element configuration with a fully integrated A/D converter. An internal clock and control unit enable the PYD1998 digital output pyrodetector to open a dialog with any outside microprocessor without additional components. The PYD1998 is offered in a standard three-pin TO-5 housing. Its typical applications include motion detection for consumer comfort and safety and intrusion alarm passive infrared.
It has many features. The first one is digital output pyrodetector. The next one is dual element configuration. The next one is TO-5 metal housing with 3 leads. The next one is extremely low RF sensitivity (PSRR improved by roughly 30 dB). The next one is direct coupling of detector signals to a P, which simplifies intelligent digital signal processing. The next one is it would have wide frequency range. The next one is it would have fast response time which means easy bandpass management. The next one is automatic out-of-range correction. The next one is reduced space requirements. The next one is it would be RoHS compliant. That are all the main features.
Some important specifications have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its responsivity which would be min 3.3kV.W and typ 4.0kV/W. The next one is about its noise which would be max Vpp. The next one is about its operating voltage which would be min 3.5V and typ 5V and max 5.5V. The next one is about its supply current which would be typ 30A and max 40A. The next one is about its field of view which would be typ 100 degree.
