The HD6840 is designed as a programmable subsystem component of the HMCS6800 family designed to provide variable system time intervals.The PTM has three 16-bit binary counters, three corresponding control registers and a status register.These counters are under software control and may be used to cause system interrupts and/or generate output signals.The PTM may be utilized for such tasks as frequency measurements, event counting, interval measuring and similar tasks.The devicemay be used for square wave generation, gated delay signals, single pulses of controlled duration, and pulse width modulation as well as system interrupts.
It has many features.The first one is operates from a single 5 volts power supply.The second one is single system clock required.The third one is selectable prescaler on timer 3 capable of 4MHz for the HD6340 / HD6840, 6MHz for the HD63A40 / HD68A40 and 8 MHz for the HD63B40 / HD68B40. The fourth one is programmable interrupts output to MPU.The fifth one is readable down counter indicates counts to go until timeout.The sixth one is selectable gating for frequency or pulse-width comparison.The next one is it would have three asynchronous external clock and gate/trigger input internally synchronized.The next one is that it would have three maskable outputs.That are all the features.
Some absolute maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow.The first one is about its supply voltage which would be from -0.3 to +7.0V.The second one is about its input voltage which would be from -0.3 to +7.0V.The third one is about its operating temperature which would be from -20 to +75°C.The fourth one is about its storage temperature which would be from -55 to +150°C.Something should be noted that permanent LSI damage may occur if maximum ratings are exceeded.Normal operation should be under recommended operating condition.If there conditions are exceeded, it could affect reliability of LSI.And so on.For more information please contact us.
