The AZ986 is designed as 40 amp 280-ISO automotive relay.
It has eight features. (1) 40 amp contact rating. (2) Coils to 24VDC. (3) High operating temperature (125°C). (4) SPST (1 form A), SPDT (1 form C). (5) Available with shrouded weatherproof cover. (6) Coil suppression available. (7) ISO/TS 16949, ISO9001, ISO 14000. (8) Tested in accordance with SAE J2544. That are all the main features.
Some general data have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its life expectancy would be 1 x 10^7 for mechanical and would be 1 x 10^5 at 40A, 14Vdc res for electrical. (2) Its operate time would be max 7ms at naminal coil voltage. (3) Its release time would be max 4ms at nominal coil voltage. (4) Its dielectric strength (at sea level for 1 minute) would be 500Vrms coil to contact and 500Vrms comtact to contact. (5) Its insulation resistance would be 600 megohms min. at 500 Vdc, 20°C 50% RH. (6) Its dropout would be greater than 10% of nominal coil voltage. (7) Its ambient temperature would be from -55°C to 125°C for operating and would be from -55°C to 155°C for storage. (8) Its vibration would be 1.27mm DA 10 to 40Hz 5g 40 to 70Hz and 0.5mm DA 70 to 100Hz 10g 100 to 500Hz. (9) Its shock would be 200m/s2. (10) Its enclosure would be PST polyester. (11) Its terminals would be tinned copper alloy 0.110 quick connect. Note: allow suitable slack on leads when wiring, and do not subject the terminals to excessive force. (12) Its weight would be 22 grams (37 grams shrouded version).
Also some specifications about its coil. (1) Its power at pickup voltage typical would be 0.58W. (2) Its max continuous dissipation would be 3.7W at 20°C. (3) Its temperature rise would be 52°C at nominal coil voltage. (4) Its temperature would be max 180°C. And so on.
