The X28HC256J-15 is designed as a second generation high performance CMOS 32K x 8 E2PROM. It is fabricated with Xicor's proprietary, textured poly floating gate technology, providing a highly reliable 5 Volt only nonvolatile memory.
X28HC256J-15 has seven features. (1) Its access time would be 70ns. (2) Simple byte and page write which means single 5V supply, no external high voltages or VPP control circuits and self-timed, no erase before write, no complex programming algorithms, no overerase problem. (3) Low power CMOS which means active: 60mA and standby: 500mA. (4) Software data protection which means protects data against system level inadvertent writes. (5) High speed page write capability. (6) Highly reliable direct write cell which means endurance: 100,000 write cycles and data retention: 100 years. (7) Early end of write detection which means DATA polling and toggle bit polling. That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of X28HC256J-15 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its temperature under bias would be from -10°C to +85°C. (2) Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to +135°C. (3) Its voltage on any pin with respect to Vss would be from -1V to +7V. (4) Its DC output current would be 10mA. (5) Its lead temperature (soldering, 10 seconds) would be 300°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed under "absolute maximum ratings" may cause permanent damage to the device.
