The WD1100-01 serial/parallel converter allows the user to convert NRZ(non-return to zeo)data from a Winchester disk drive into 8-bit parallel form,Additional inputs are provided to signal the start of the parallel process, as well as byte strobes to signify the end of the conversion.The WD1100-01 contains two sets of 8-bit registers;one register may be read(in parallel), while data is being shifted into the other register.This double-buffering allows the Host to read data from the disk drive at one-eighth the actual data rate.

WD1100-01 has five unique features: The first one is single 5 V supply.The second one is double buffering.The third one is byte strobe outputs.The forth one is 20 pin DIP package.The fifth one is serial in/serial-parallel out.The sixth one is 5 M bits/sec shift rate.Besides,there are some absolute maximum ratings about it.Ambient temperature under bias is 0 to 50.Voltage on amy pin with respect to Vss is -0.2 V to 7.0 V.
