The W83977EG is designed as an evolving product from Winbond's most popular I/O chip W83877F, which integrates the disk drive adapter, serial port (UART), IrDA 1.0 SIR, parallel port, configurable plugand-play registers for the whole chip, plus additional powerful features: ACPI, 8042 keyboard controller with PS/2 mouse support, 14 general purpose I/O ports, full 16-bit address decoding, onnow keyboard wake-up, onnow mouse wake-up.

W83977EG has eight general features. (1)Plug & play 1.0A compatible. (2)Support 12 IRQs, 4 DMA channels, full 16-bit address decoding. (3)Capable of ISA bus IRQ sharing. (4)Compliant with microsoft PC98 hardware design guide. (5)Support DPM (device power management), ACPI. (6)Report ACPI status interrupt by SCI# signal issued from any of the 12 IQRs pins or GPIO xx. (7)Programmable configuration settings. (8)Single 24/48 Mhz clock input. That are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of W83977EG have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its power supply voltage would be from -0.5 to 7.0V. (2)Its input voltage would be from -0.5 to VDD+0.5V. (3)Its battery voltage would be from 4.0 to 1.8V. (4)Its 5V standby would be from 4.5 to 5.5V. (5)Its operating temperature range would be from 0 to +70°C. (6)Its storage temperature range would be from -55 to +150°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some DC characteristics are concluded as follow. (1)Its battery quiescent current would be max 1uA. (2)Its stand-by power supply quiescent current would be max 2.0mA. (3)Its input low voltage would be max 0.8V. (4)Its input high voltage would be min 2.0V. (5)Its output low voltage would be max 0.4V. (6)Its output high voltage would be min 2.4V. (7)Its input high leakage would be max +10uA. (8)Its input low leakage would be max -10uA. And so on.
