The UA7391 is designed for precision, closed-loop, motor speed control systems. UA7391 regulates the speed of capstan drive motors in automotive and porable tape players and is useful in a variety of industrial control applications, floppy disc drive systems, data catridge drive systems.

The features of the UA7391 are: (1)precision performance-frequency-to-voltage conversion stability typically 0.1% for V+ from 10V to 16V; 0.3% for case temperature from -40 to +85; (2)high current performance-3.5A starting surge current and 2A running current to a DC motor; (3)wide range tachometer input-100mVp-p to 1.0Vp-p.

The absolute maximum ratings of the UA7391 are: (1)supply voltage: 24V; (2)regulator output current: 15mA; (3)voltage applied to pin 5: 7V; (4)voltage applied between pins 3 and 4: ±6V; (5)DC voltage applied to pin 11: 24V; (6)DC voltage applied to pins 9 and 10: V+; (7)continuous current through pins 9 and 10: 2.0A; (8)repetitive surge current through pin 11: 300mA.
