The TDA4580 is designed as a monolithic integrated circuit which performs video control functions in television receivers with a colout difference interface. for example it operates in conjunction the multistandard colour decoder TDA4555. The required input signals are: luminance and negative colour difference - (R-Y) and -(B-Y), and a 3-level sandcastle pulse for control purposes.
TDA4580 has sixteen features. (1)Capacitive coupling of the colour difference, luminance and RGB input signals with black level clamping. (2)Two sets of analogue RGB inputs via fast switch 1 and fast switch 2. (3)First RGB inputs and fast switch 1 in accordance with peritelevision connector specification. (4)Saturation, contrast and brightness control acting on first RGB inputs. (5)Brightness control acting on second RGB inputs. (6)Equal black levels for television and inserted signals. (7)Clamping, horizontal and vertical blanking, and timing of automatic cut-off, controlled by a 3-level sandcastle pulse. (8)Automatic cut-off control with compensation for leakage current of the picture tube. (9)Measuring pulses of cut-off control start immediately after end of vertical part sandcastle pulse. (10)Three selectable blanking intervals for PAL, SECAM and NTSC/PAL-M. (11)Two switch-on delays for run-in without discolouration. (12)Adjustable eak drive limiter. (13)Average beam current limiter. (14)G-Y and RGB matrix coefficients selectable for PAL/SECAM and NTSC (correction for FCC primaries). (15)Bandwidth 10MHz typ. (16)Emitter follower outputs for driving the RGB output stages. (2)Its voltage range at pins 2, 4, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 27 to pin 24 (ground) would be from 0 to Vp. (3)Its voltage range would be from -0.5V to Vp at pins 8, 11, 28 and would be from 0 to Vp+0.7V at pin 10 and would be from -0.7V to Vp+0.7V at pin 26. (4)Its current would be max 3mA at pins 1, 3, 5 (average) and would be max 10mA at pins 1, 3, 5 (peak) and would be max 5mA at pins 19 (average) and would be max 1mA at pin 26.
