The RC7104 is a clock synthesizer for Pentium based motherboard systems. The CPU output frequency can be "over driven" through a command to the serial IZC interface.

The features of RC7104 can be summarized as (1)employs fairchildis proprietary spread spectrum technology; (2)reduces measured EMI by as much as 10dB; (3)I2C programmable; (4)two skew-controlled copies of CPU clock; (5)SEL100/66# selects CPU frequency (100 or 66.8MHz); (6) over clocking up to 133MHz; (7)seven copies of PCI clock (synchronous w/CPU clock); (8)one copy of 14.31818 MHZ IOAPIC clock; (9)one copy of 48MHz USB clock; (10)24 or 48MHz clock is determined by resistor straps on power up; (11)one copy of 14.31818MHz REF clock.

The absolute maximum ratings of RC7104 are (1)VDD, VIN voltage on any pin with respect to GND: -05 to +70v; (2)TSTG storage temperature: -65 to +150°C; (3)TB ambient temperature under bias: -55 to +125°C; (4)TA operating temperature: 0 to +70°C; (5)VESD input ESD protection 2 (min) kV.(stresses greater than those listed in this table may cause per manent damage to the device.
