The PBL3772 is designed as one kind of a switch-mode (chopper), constant-current driver IC with two channels, one for each winding of a two-phase stepper motors. The circuit is similar to ericsson's PBL 3771, but has been designed to generate a minimum amount of power dissipation and can deliver substantially more current to the stepper motor, up to 1A continuously per channel. At 2x750mA output current, power dissipation is only 1.8W.
PBL3772 has seven features. (1)Dual chopper driver in a single package. (2)0°C to 85°C operation. (3)1.0A continuous output current per channel. (4)Very low power dissipation, 1.8W at 2x750mA output current. (5)Close matching between channels for high microstepping accuracy. (6)Specially matched to the dual DAC PBM 3960. (7)Plastic 22-pin batwing DIP package or 28-pin PLCC with lead-frame for heat-sinking through PC board copper. Those are all the main features.
