Description

The ML4622 and ML4624 data quantizers are low noise,wideband, bipolar monolithic ICs designed specifically forsignal recovery applications in fiberoptic receiver systems.They contain a wideband limiting amplifier which iscapable of accepting an input signal as low as 2mVP-Pwith a 55dB dynamic range. This high level of sensitivityis achieved by using a DC restoration feedback loopwhich nulls any offset voltage produced in the limitingamplifier.

The output stage of ML4622 is a high speed comparator circuit withboth TTL and ECL outputs. An enable pin is included foradded control.

The Link Detect circuit of ML4622 provides a Link Monitor functionwith a user selectable reference voltage. This circuitonitors the peaks of the input signal and provides alogic level output indicating when the input falls belowan acceptable level. This output of ML4622 can be used to disablethe quantizer and/or drive an LED, providing a visible linkstatus.
