The MBI1801 is an instant On/Off LED driver for high power LED applications and exploits PrecisionDrive(TM) and All-Ways-On(TM) technology to enhance its output characteristics.At MBI1801 output stage, one regulated current port is designed to provide a uniform and constant current sink for driving LEDs within a large range of VF variations.In addition, the current characteristic of output stage is flat and users can refer to the figure as shown below. The output current can be kept constant regardless of the variations of LED forward voltages (VF).This guarantees LED to be performed on the same brightness as user's specification.
Features of the MBI1801 are:(1)constant output current invariant to supply and load voltage change; (2)maximum output constant current: 1.2A; (3)output current adjusted through an external resistor; (4)built-in thermal protection; (5)5V supply voltage; (6)package type: "Pb-free" package.When the junction temperature exceeds the threshold, TX (165°C), TP function turns off the output current. Thus, the junction temperature starts to decrease.As soon as the temperature is below 165°C, the output current will be turned on again.The on-state and off-state switch at a high frequency; thus, the blinking is imperceptible. However,the average output current is limited, and therefore, the driver is protected from being overheated.
The absolute maximum ratings of the MBI1801 can be summarized as:(1)supply voltage:0 to +7.0 V;(2)storage temperature:-55 to +150;(3)operating temperature:-40 to +85 ;(4)operating junction temperature:125 ;(5)output current-outputs:1440 mA.Pure tin is widely accepted by customers and suppliers of electronic devices in Europe, Asia and the US as the lead-free surface finish of choice to replace tin-lead. Also, it is backward compatible to standard 215 to 240 reflow processes which adopt tin/lead (SnPb) solder paste. However, in the whole Pb-free soldering processes and materials, 100% pure tin (Sn) will all require up to 260 for proper soldering on boards, referring to J-STD-020C as shown below.
