Description

The HSDL-5420 is designed as one member of the HDSL-54xx IR detector series which have high performance IR emitter and IR pin photodiode in subminiature SMT package. Typical applications is short distance IR links, IrDA compatible, small handheld devices pagers industrial handhelds, diffuse LANs and wireless audio.

HSDL-5420 has five features. (1)Subminiature flat top and dome package size-2x2mm. (2)IR emitter 875nm TS AlGaAs intensity-17mW/sr speed -40ns. (3)Wide range of drive currents 500mA to 500mA. (4)IR detector PIN photodiode high sensitivity speed-7.5ns. (5)Flexible lead configurations surface mount or through hole. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of HSDL-5420 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its power dissipation would be max 150mW. (2)Its reverse voltage would be max 40V at Ir=100uA. (3)Its operating temperature range would be from -40°C to 85°C. (4)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 100°C. (5)Its junction temperature would be max 110°C. (6)Its lead solder temperature 1.6mm (0.063 inch) from body would be max 260°C/5s. (7)Its reflow soldering temperature would be 235°C/90s for convection and would be 215°C/180s for vapor phase. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics of HSDL-5420 are concluded as follow. (1)Its forward voltage would be typ 1.8V. (2)Its breakdown voltage would be min 40V.
