The HD63487 is designed as memory interface and video attribute controller (MIVAC). HD63487 includes peripheral control circuits for grapghic display on a chip. Incorporating bus driver circuits and a DRAM interface, the MIVAC allows direct connection to DRAMs with no external circuits. On-chip parallel / serial converting shift register generates high speed video signals.
HD63487 has sixteen features. (1)Directly connected with 1 to 4 memory devices (x 4 bit organization, static column mode). (2)Generates DRAM interface signals row and column address, RAS, CS, OE, WE and memory data. (3)Generates high speed video signal dot rate of 33MHz max. (4)16 kinds of operation modes by the combination of 2, 4 and 16 colors (1, 2 and 4 bit/pixel); 8, 16 and 32 dot shift; single dual access; 1, 2 and 4 chips memory. (5)Blinking block cursor display. (6)Memory variation 256 x 4 static column mode DRAM. (7)Generates special clock drive the ACRTC (asymmetrical 2CLK). (8)Input clock divider to generate dot clocks (divided by 1, 2 and 4). (9)Supports frame sequential application. (10)Blink2 interrupting control. (11)CS before RAS refresh. (12)Direct interface with the ACRTC. (13)Supports hardware window of ACRTC.
