FSAM30SM60A is an advanced smart power module(SPM) that Fairchild has newly developed and designed toprovide very compact and high performance ac motordrives mainly targeting medium speed low-power inverterdrivenapplication like air conditioners. It combinesoptimized circuit protection and drive matched to low-lossIGBTs. Highly effective short-circuit current detection/protection is realized through the use of advanced currentsensing IGBT chips that allow continuous monitoring of theIGBTs current. System reliability is further enhanced by thebuilt-in over-temperature monitoring and integrated undervoltagelock-out protection. The high speed built-in HVIC FSAM30SM60A provides opto-coupler-less IGBT gate driving capability thatfurther reduce the overall size of the inverter system design.In addition the incorporated HVIC facilitates the use ofsingle-supply drive topology enabling the FSAM30SM60Ato be driven by only one drive supply voltage withoutnegative bias. Inverter current sensing application can beachieved due to the divided negative dc terminals.
