The CS48DV2 processor gives OEMs a cost effective, fixed-function, simple-to-design Dolby Volume 2.0 to 2.1 channel solution. Designed to provide high-performance volume control using the Dolby Volume algorithm, the low-power standby of the CS48DV2 DSP Family preserves battery life for applications which are always on, but not necessarily processing audio, such as portable audio systems.
The CS48DV2A and CS48DV2B are primarily differentiated by the maximum number of Dolby Volume processing channels supports - 2.0 Channels and 2.1 Channels respectively. The first device available to the market for mass production is the CS48DV2A which requires downloading a different Dolby Volume .uld files for each supported sample rate (32kHz, 44.1kHz and 48kHz).
The CS48DV2B has a majority of the code in ROM and hence only requires a single small download from the host controller. The CS48DV2B also is planned to support additional pre / post-processing modules or "overlays" that are capable of running concurrently with Dolby Volume processing.
