The 74HCT283 is high-speed Si-gate CMOS devices and are pin compatible with low power Schottky TTL (LSTTL). They are specified in compliance with JEDEC standard no. 7A.
The 74HCT283 add two 4-bit binary words (An plus Bn) plus the incoming carry. The binary sum appears on the sum outputs (1 to 4) and the out-going carry (COUT) according to the equation:CIN + (A1 + B1) + 2(A2 + B2) + +4(A3 + B3) + 8(A4 + B4) = = 1 + 22 + 43 + 84 + 16COUT Where (+) = plus.
Due to the symmetry of the binary add function, the "283" can be used with either all active HIGH operands (positive logic) or all active LOW operands (negative logic); see function table. In case of all active LOW operands the results 1 to 4 and COUT should be interpreted also as active LOW. With active HIGH inputs, CIN must be held LOW when no "carry in" is intended. Interchanging inputs of equal weight does not affect the operation, thus CIN, A1, B1 can be assigned arbitrarily to pins 5, 6, 7, etc.
See the "583" for the BCD version.
The 74HCT283 is designed as high-speed si-gate CMOS devices and are pin compatible with low power schottky TTL (LSTTL). It is specified in compliance with JEDEC standard no. 7A. It adds two 4-bit binary words (An plus Bn) plus the incoming carry.
The five features of the 74HCT283. The first one is high-speed 4-bit binary addition. The second one is cascadable in 4-bit increments. The third one is it would have fast internal look-ahead carry. The fourth one is its output capability would be standard. The fifth one is its ICC category would be MSI. That are all the main features.
Some important AC characteristics and specifications of the 74HCT283 have been concluded into several points as follow. For Tamb=25°C the first one is about its propagation delay Cin to 1 which would be typ 52ns and max 160ns at Vcc=2.0V and would be typ 19ns and max 32ns at Vcc=4.5V and would be typ 15ns and max 27ns at Vcc=6.0V. The second one is about its propagation delay Cin to 2 which would be typ 58ns and max 180ns at Vcc=2.0V and typ 21ns and max 36ns at Vcc=4.5V and would be typ 17ns and max 31ns at Vcc=6.0V. The third one is about its output transition time which would be typ 19ns and max 75ns at Vcc=2.0V and typ 7ns and max 15ns at Vcc=4.5V and would be typ 6ns and max 13ns at Vcc=6.0V.
Also for the Tamb range of -40 to +125°C the first one is about its propagation delay An to Yn which would be max 240ns at Vcc=2.0V and would be max 48ns at Vcc=4.5V and would be max 41ns at Vcc=6.0V. The second one is about its propagation delay LE to Yn which would be max 270ns at Vcc=2.0V and max 54ns at Vcc=4.5V and would be max 46ns at Vcc=6.0V. The third one is about its output transition time which would be max 110ns at Vcc=2.0V and max 22ns at Vcc=4.5V and would be max 19ns at Vcc=6.0V. And so on.
