The DS1673 portable system controller is a circuit hat incorporates many of the functions necessary for ow-power portable products integrated into one chip. DS1673 provides a real-time clock (RTC), NV AM controller, microprocessor monitor, and a -channel, 8-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC). ommunication with the DS1673 is established hrough a simple 3-wire interface.
The DS1673 provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, ate, month, and year information with leap year ompensation. The RTC also provides an alarm nterrupt. This interrupt works when the DS1673 is owered by the system power supply or when in attery-backup operation, so the alarm can be used to ake up a system that is powered down.
Automatic backup and write protection of an external RAM is provided through the VCCO, CEOL, and EOH pins. The backup energy source used to power he RTC is also used to retain RAM data in the bsence of VCC through the VCCO pin. The chipenable utputs to RAM (CEOL and CEOH) are ontrolled during power transients to prevent data orruption.
