The Cortex-M0-based LPC11D00 and LPC12D00 microcontrollers from NXP adopt LCD drivers to have high contrast and brightness. With the PCF8576D LCD driver, the devices can drive any static or multiplexed LCDs containing four backplanes and 40 segments. Designers can easily cascade these LCD drivers to suit as many as 2560 segments. The PCF8576D LCD driver supports a supply range of 2.5 to 6.5V, making the microcontrollers suitable for application in interfacing with both low- and high-threshold LCDs. The LPC11D00 supports as much as 32 kbytes of flash memory; 8 kbytes of SRAM; an I²C interface; UART; four system timers; and an eight-channel, 10-bit ADC. The LPC12D00 has as much as 128 kbytes of flash memory, dual analog comparators with 32 levels of voltage reference, edge and level detection, and output-feedback loop. The LPC11D00 and LPC12D00 sell for $1.53 and $2.19 (10,000), respectively.
