It is reported that in order to develop new technologies and test standards to promote TD-LTE-Advanced technologies, Agilent Technologies Inc and Datang Telecom Group work together to build a TD-LTE-Advanced Joint Research Lab.
Datang Telecom (Beijing, China) is the owner of core patents and a leader in the telecom equipment market, and also is the initiator of the TD-SCDMA international 3G mobile communication standard. It has been playing a significant role in the creation and global deployment of TD-SCDMA and TD LTE-Advanced which is a follow-on phase for the current TD-LTE (4G) standard.
It is the second time that two companies work together. Engineers of these two companies will cooperate to develop TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE and TD-LTE-Advanced solutions.
In March 2009, Agilent and Datang signed a memorandum of understanding that both firms would collaborate on TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE-Advanced, and related technologies and standards development. The purpose of the collaboration was to further the deployment of the TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE-Advanced standards in China with the intent to significantly impact future wireless technologies. The projects completed today have successfully achieved those objectives.
TD-LTE-Advanced (LTE-Advance TDD system) is China’s proposed proprietary intellectual property rights for the new generation of mobile communications technology after TD-SCDMA standard. It takes in the main elements of TD-SCDMA and embodies the latest Chinese innovations in broadband wireless mobile communication.
Datang has been establishing cooperation relationship with mobile network operators, system and terminal manufacturers as well as leading test and measurement suppliers on development of TD-LTE-Advanced. Currently, TD-LTE-Advanced has obtained recognition of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
