The photovoltaic industry is an industry of new energy source and an environment-friendly zero carbon energy source as well. Comparing with the silicon cell, the hull cell which made from CIGS and CdTe has advantages of low cost, high efficiency and reliability, high efficiency of light-energy conversion and short energetic recycling circle, which makes the hull cell industry become increasingly potential. However, it also faces great challenges.
Material supplied will not be the restrictive factor. The solar battery is the one that can convert solar energy to electrical energy and the battery which is of high conversion efficiency requires some special material. In this way, CIGS and CdTe semiconductor material have high optical absorb coefficient, which makes it a good choice for the solar battery. Furthermore, the conversion efficiency will be promoted much more in the future.
Viewing from the material aspect, the indium is a kind of rare material and it is mainly important for large-scale production of solar batteries. As for CdTe hull cell, Cd and Te are the two important material. It is well known that Cd is poisonous and Te is rare on the earth, therefore, the material source and safety are the two problems which are drawn much attention. In common condition, there is no poisonousness when the two become the compound.
In the future battery market, the hull cell will have much wider applications in fields like mobile phones and motorbikes. Customers will get longer output insurance from the manufactures. Related chip of the hull cell is:TDA8775 .
