The ICL8038CCJD waveform generator is a monolithic integrated circuit. It can produce high accuracy sine, square, triangular, sawtooth and pulse waveforms with a minimum of external components. It is fabricated with advanced monolithic technology, using Schottky barrier diodes and thin film resistors, and the output is stable over a wide range of temperature and supply variations.
There are some features as follows. First is low frequency drift with temperature which is 250 ppm/. The second is low distortion which is 1% (sine wave output). Then is high linearity which is 0.1% (triangle wave output). Next is wide frequency range which is from 0.001 Hz to 300 kHz. The fifth is variable duty cycle which is from 2% to 98%. The sixth is high level outputs which is TTL to 28 V. Besides, it has simultaneous sine, square, and triangle wave outputs. At last, it is easy to use-just a handful of external components required.
What comes next is about the absolute maximum ratings. The supply voltage is 36 V. The input voltage (any pin) is from V- to V+. The input current (Pins 4 and 5) is 25 mA. The output sink current (pins 3 and 9) is 25 mA. The maximum junction temperature (ceramic package) is 150. The maximum storage temperature range is from -65 to 150. The maximum lead temperature (soldering, 10 s) is 300. The typical JA (thermal resistance) is 75 /W and the maximum is 20 /W for CERDIP package.
