The CA3161E is a monolithic integrated circuit that performs the BCD to seven segment decoding function and featuresconstant current segment drivers. When used with theCA3162E A/D Converter the CA3161E provides a completedigital readout system with a minimum number of external parts.
It has many unique features: The first one is TTL compatible input logic levels.The second one is 25mA (Typ) constant current segment outputs.The third one is eliminates need for output current limiting resistors.The forth onei s The fifth one is pin compatible with oOther industry standard decoders.The sixth one is low standby power dissipation,etc.
There are some absolute maximum ratings.DC supply voltage(between pins 1 and 10) is +7 V.Input voltage(terminals 1,2,6,7) is ±5.5V.Beside, there are also some thermal information.Maximum Junction Temperature is 150oC.Maximum Storage Temperature Range is -65oC to 150oC.Maximum Lead Temperature (Soldering 10s) is 300oC.And there are also some electrical specifications(Ta is 25).Vsupply Operating Range, V+ is 4.5 V min, 5 V typ and 5.5 V max.Supply Current, l+ (All Inputs High) is 3.5 mA typ and 8 mA max.Output Current Low (VO = 2V) is 18 mA min, 25 mA typ and 32 mA max.Output Current High (VO = 5.5V) is 250 mA max.Input Voltage High (Logic "1" Level) is 2 V min.Input Voltage Low (Logic "0" Level) is 0.8 V max.Input Current High (Logic "1") is -30 uA min when the voltage is 2 V .Input Current Low (Logic "0") is -40 uA min when the voltage is 0 V.
