The type 401C is -55°C to 105°C low-esr,wide temperature grade.The type 401C is the wide-temperature, low-voltage version of the Type 450C. It is ideal for high-ripple current military and industrial applications that need full performance at cold temperatures. It also excels as a power-supply output capacitor because of its exceptionally low ESR. The extended cathode foil of the 401C assures cool operation and heat flow from the capacitor element to the can in all mounting orientations.
The type 401C has the following highlights including Better value than large snap-in capacitors; Ripple Currents to >50 amps at 55°C; ESRs to 3.5 m; > 90% capacitance at -40°C ;Thermal-PakTM extended cathode construction .This socket is basically identical to the sockets in an early S-K set believed to date to around 1932. The S-K sockets are also unmarked except for the size, but several construction and marking details help to distinguish these sockets from other similar makes. In particular, the sockets are turned to give the upper walls a slight taper, and the sockets have a flat base with no indentations around the drive opening. Another detail to note is that the size marking has a small dot (or dimple) on each side. Finally, the band of cross-hatched knurling around the base is flush with the surface, rather than raised or depressed.
