The XE1222 is a proprietary communications component that provides a " direct connect" telephone line interface. The XE1112 has been designed to meet all requirements for hazardous voltage, surge protection and leakage current, and has been granted a user transferrable type WP registration under part 68 of the FCC rules and regulations. As such, a system developed with this product as the DAA, will be automatically registered to an FCC part 68 type WP registration level.
This component may be used as the direct connect telephone line interface for virtually any application in which voice or data is to be transmitted over the public switched telephone network. The XE1112 includes both ON/OFF Hook control and Ring Detection circuitry, and is powered from the telephone line. It requires a minimum DC line current of 20 mA to activate the DAA. A supply voltage of +5V is required only to drive the hookswitch relay.
The XE1112 has its own characteristics. Here lists some of its important features. The first one is: small size is 2.28"*1.0"*0.5". The second one is: ring detection The third one is: ON/OFF hook control. The fourth one is: FCC part 68 registered. The fifth one is: 1500 volt isolation And the last one is: UL recognized component.
When using the XE1112, it is necessary that the DAA output impedance matches the telephone line impedance, which is normally 600 Ohms. The impedance matching may be ensured by setting the source impedance of the circuitry, driving LINE(1) and LINE(2) inputs to 536 Ohms. In order to maintain the high voltage isolation provided by the DAA, traces from tip and ring pins to the RJ11C jack should have a minimum spacing of 150 mils between them and any other traces on the board.
