The WT503E is a high-performance, low-cost, CMOS 8-bit single-chip microcontroller with expandable external ROM/RAM/Flash memory up to 8M bytes, which is suitable for variable applications, especially when extra-large ROM/RAM/Flash memory space is needed, including edutainment toys, audio player, speech synthesizer, and talking device.
This chip has 8-bit CPU, RAM, I/Os, dual 16-bit timer/counters, interrupt controller, and dual 8-bit current-type D/A output or push-pull PWM-type DAC output. To be suitable for portable battery-powered applications, a power saving function is included. Incorporating with extra-large external ROM/RAM/Flash memory (up to 8M bytes), this microcontroller can be used in application where large memory space is required for data storage. In speech-related applications, by using ADPCM compression technique at 32kb/s (24kb/s) data rate, the WT503E can store up to 32 minutes (42 minutes) audio/speech data.
The WT503E has ten features as follow: the first is 8-bit single chip microcontroller with 1920 bytes SRAM; the second is wide voltage operating range from 2.4V to 6.0V; the third is built-in crystal oscillator circuit (32.768kHz) and RC oscillator with maximum frequency up to 6.0 MHz; the forth is 5 interrupt sources (external:1; internal:4), all sources have indenpendent latches each and multiple interrupt control is available, the fifth is that I/O port (18 pins); the sixth is interval timer (internal time base gennerator); the seventh is operating current 1mA/3MHz@3V, providing standby mode (OSC is stopped and current consumption<1A@3V) and key wake-up mode; the eighth is dual 16-bit timer/counters; the ninth is dual 8-bit current-type DAC or 9-bit push-pull PWM-type DAC selectable; the tenth is digital-type 16 levels speaker volume control.
