DescriptionThe WM8771 is a high performance, multi-channel audiocodec. The WM8771 is ideal for surround sound processingapplications for home hi-fi, automotive and other audiovisual equipment.
A stereo 24-bit multi-bit sigma delta ADC of the WM8771 is used with athree channel input selector. Each channel has analoguedomain mute and programmable gain control. Digital audiooutput word lengths from 16-32 bits and sampling ratesfrom 8kHz to 96kHz are supported.
Four stereo 24-bit multi-bit sigma delta DACs of the WM8771 are used withoversampling digital interpolation filters. Digital audio inputword lengths from 16-32 bits and sampling rates from 8kHzto 192kHz are supported. Each DAC channel hasindependent digital attenuation and mute control. The audiodata interface supports I2S, left justified, right justified andDSP digital audio formats.
The WM8771 is controlled via a 3 wire serial interface. Theinterface provides access to all features including channelselection, volume controls, mutes, de-emphasis and powermanagement facilities. The device is available in a 64-pinTQFP package.
