WM8756

The WM8756 is a high performance 6-channel DACdesigned for audio applications such as SACD™ players,DVD-V and DVD-A, home audio and theatre systems. Thedevice supports data input word lengths from 16 to 32-bitsand sampling rates up to 192kHz. The WM8756 canimplement 2 or 6 channels at 192kHz for high-end DVDAudio,or 6 channels at up to 192kHz for surroundapplications. Additionally 64x DSD bitstream support isoffered on all 6 channels. The WM8756 consists of a serialinterface port, digital interpolation filters, multi-bit sigmadelta modulators and 6 DACs in a 48-pin TQFP package.The WM8756 also includes a digitally controllable mute andattenuator function on each channel, accessible duringPCM operation. An on-chip multiplexer selects betweenPCM or DSD audio data input pins.

The WM8756 supports hardware or software connectionschemes for audio DAC control. The serial control interfaceprovides access to a wide range of features including onchipmute, attenuation and phase reversal. Hardware pincontrollableoperation is also available.
