VY series has two features. The first one is that it would have one rank smaller case sizes than VZ series. The next one is that it would be adapted to the RoHS directive (2002/95/EC). That are all the main features.
Some important specifications of VY series have been concluded into several points as follow. The first oneis about its category temperature range which would be from -55 to +105°C (6.3 to 100V), -40 to +105°C (160 to 400V), -25 to +105°C (450V). The next one is about its rated voltage range which would be from 6.3 to 450Vdc. The next one is about its rated capacitance range which would be from 0.1 to 68000F. The next one is about its capacitance tolerance which would be ±20% (at 20°C, 120Hz). The next one is about its leakage current which would be after 1 minute's application of rated voltage, leakage current is not more than 0.03CV or 4 (A), whichever is greater and after 2 minutes' application of rated voltage, leakage current is not more than 0.01CV or 3 (A), whichever is greater for rated voltage from 6.3 to 100V and for 150 to 450V it means after 1 minute's application of rated voltage, CV <= 1000 : I =0.1CV+40 (A) or less and after 1 minute's application of rated voltage, CV > 1000 : I =0.04CV+100 (A) or less. The next one is about its endurance which would mean after 1000 hours' application of rated voltage at 105°C, capacitors meet the characteristic requirements listed at right. capacitance change would be within ±20% of the initial value and tan would be 200% or less of initial specified value and leakage current would be initial specified value or less. The next one is about its shelf life which would be after storing the capacitors under no load at 105°C for 1000 hours, and after performing voltage treatment based on JIS C 5101-4 clause 4.1 at 20°C, they will meet the specified value for endurance characteristics listed above.
