UM6551

The UM6551 is an asynchronous communication adapter(ACIA) intended for interfacing the 6500/6800 microprocessor families to serial communication data sets and modems.

Features of the UM6551 are:(1)on-chip baud rate generator:15 programmable baud rates derived from a standard 1.8432MHz external crystal(50 to 19,200 baud);(2)programmable interrupt and status register to simplify software design;(3)single +5V power supply;(4)serial echo mode;(5)false start bit detection;(6)8-bit,bi-directional data bus for direct communication with the microprocessor;(7)data set and modern control signals provided;(8)full-duplex or half-duplex operation;(9)5.6.7.8.and 9 bit transmission.

The absolute maximum ratings of the UM6551 can be summarized as:(1)supply voltage:-0.3V to +7.0V;(2)input/output voltage:-0.3V to +7.0V;(3)operating temperature:0 to 70;(4)storage temperature:-55 to +150.
