The UCC284-12 is designed as one kind of low dropout 0.5A negative linear regulators. It is tailored for low drop out applications where low quiescent power is important.
UCC284-12 has nine features. (1)Precision negative series pass voltage regulation. (2)0.2V drop out at 0.5A. (3)Wide input voltage range -3.2V to -15V. (4)Low quiescent current irrespective of load. (5)Simple logic shutdown interfacing. (6)-5V, -12V and adjustable output. (7)2.5% duty cycle short circuit protection. (8)Remote load sensing for accurate load regulation. (9)8-pin DP package. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of UCC284-12 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage owuld be -16V. (2)Its shutdown voltage SD/CT would be from +6V to -5V. (3)Its storage temperature range would be from -65°C to 150°C. (4)Its junction temperature range would be from -55°C to 150°C. (5)Its lead temperature soldering 10 seconds would be 300°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics of UCC284-12 are concluded as follow. (1)Fixed 12V 0.5A regulation section its output voltage would be min -12.18V and typ -12V and max -11.82V at Ta=25°C and would be min -12.24V and max -11.64V over all conditions. (2)Its line regulation would be typ 5mV and max 15mV at Vin=-12.5V to -15V. (3)Its load regulation would be typ 0.1% and max 0.3% at Iout=0mA to 0.5A. (4)Its output noise voltage would be typ 200uVrms. (5)Its drop out voltage would be typ 0.15V and max 0.5V at Iout=0.5A and Vout=-11.6V and it would be typ 15mV and max 50mV at Iout=50mA and Vout=-11.6V. And so on.
