UA7912K

The UA7912K is designed as one member of the UA7900 series which is monolithic 3-terminal negative regulators. It is manufactured using the fairchild planer epitaxial process. These negative regulators are intended as complements to the popular UA7800 series of positive voltage regulators, and they are available in the same voltage options from -5V to -24V. The 7900s employ internal current limiting, safe-area protection, and thermal shutdown, making them virtually indestructible.

UA7912K has six features. (1) Output current in excess of 1A. (2) Internal thermal overload protection. (3) Internal short circuit current limiting. (4) Output transistor safe area compensation. (5) Available in the TO-220 and the TO-3 package. (6) Output voltages are 12V. That are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of UA7912K have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its input voltage would be -35V. (2) Its internal power dissipation is internally limited. (3) Its storage temperature range is from -65°C to +150°C for TO-3 and would be from -55°C to +150°C for TO-220. (4) Its operating junction temperature range would be from -55°C to +150°C. (5) Its lead temperature would be 300°C for TO-3 (soldering, 60s) and would be 230°C for TO-220 (soldering, 10s). It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics about UA7912K. (1) Its output voltage would be min -11.5V and typ -12.0V and max -12.5V. (2) Its line regulation would be typ 10mV and max 120mV. (3) Its load regulation would be from typ 12mV and max 120mV. (4) Its quiescent current is typ 1.5mA and max 3.0mA. (5) Its ripplr rejection is min 54dB and typ 60dB.
