The TSOP2140 is designed as one kind of photo modules for PCM remote control systems with carrier frequency of 40kHz. PIN diode and preamplifier are assembled on lead frame, the epoxy package is designed as IR filter. The demodulated output signal can directly be decoded by a microprocessor. The main benefit is the reliable function even in disturbed ambient and the protection against uncontrolled output pulses.
TSOP2140 has nine features. (1) Photo detector and preamplifier in one package. (2) Internal filter for PCM frequency. (3) Improved shielding against electrical field disturbance. (4) TTL and CMOS compatibility. (5) Output active low. (6) Low power consumption. (7) High immunity against ambient light. (8) Enhanced data rate of 2400 bit/s. (9) Operation with short bursts possible (>=6 cycles / burst). That are all the main features.
Some absolute TSOP2140 maximum ratings have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Supply voltage (pin 2) would be from -0.3V to 6.0V. (2) Its supply current (pin 2) would be 5mA. (3) Its output voltage (pin 1) would be from -0.3V to 6.0V. (4) Its output current (pin 1) would be 5mA. (5) Its junction temperature would be 100°C. (6) Its storage temperature range would be from -25°C to +85°C. (7) Its operating temperature range would be from -25°C to +85°C. (8) Its power consumption (Tamb <= 85°C) would be 50mW. (9) Its soldering temperature t <= 10s, 1 mm from case would be 260°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
