The TPS65121RGT is designed as single inductor quadruple output TFT LCD power supply which supplies all three voltages required by amorphous-silicon (a-Si) and low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) TFT-LCD displays. The compact layout of it uses a single inductor to generate independently-regulated positive and negative outputs. A free-running variable peak current PWM of TPS65121RGT control scheme time-multiplexes the inductor between outputs. Typical applications of TPS65121RGT include small form factor a-Si and LTPS TFT LCD, cell phones, smart phones, PDAs, pocket PCs, portable DVD, digital-still cameras, camcorders, handheld instruments, portable GPS and car navigation systems.
TPS65121RGT has nine features. (1) Its main output would mean adjustable voltage, 3.0V to 5.6V/25mA, post-regulated for low ripple (5mVpp), 0.8% typical accuracy and efficiency up to 83%. (2) Positive output would mean adjustable voltage up to 20V/2mA and 3% typical accuracy. (3) Negative output would mean adjustable voltage down to -18V/2mA and 3% typical accuracy. (4) Its auxiliary 1.8V / 3.3V linear regulator. (5) Automatic or programmable power sequencing. (6) Complete 1mm coponent profile solution. (7) 2.5V to 5.5V input voltage range. (8) Output short circuit protected. (9) 16-pin QFN package (3 x 3 x 0.9 mm). That are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of TPS65121RGT have been concluded into several points as follow. (1) Its input voltage would be from -0.3V to +6V for VIN and would be min Vin-24V to Vin+0.3V for SWN and would be from -0.3V to +23V for SWP. (2) Its voltage would be from -0.3V to +21V for VGH and would be from -0.3V to +6V for VMAIN, LDOIN, LDOOUT, ENVGL, ENVGH and would be from -0.3V to +6.2V for BOOT.
