The TPS5140PAG is designed as a dc/dc controller that incorporates three synchronous-buck controllers and one nonsynchronous 12-V boost converter on one chip to power the voltage rails needed by notebook peripheral components. On-chip high-side and low-side synchronous rectifier drivers of TPS5140PAG are integrated to drive less expensive N-channel power MOSFETs.
TPS5140PAG has twelve features. (1)Three independent step-down DC/DC controllers and one 12V boost DC/DC converter. (2)4.5V to 28V input voltage range. (3)Step-down controller output voltages adjustable down to 1.2V. (4)Synchronous-buck operation for high efficiency. (5)PWM mode control. (6)Auto PWM/SKIP mode for high efficiency under all load conditions. (7)High speed error amplifier. (8)Separate standby control and over current protection for each channel. (9)Over voltage and under voltage protection. (10)Programmable short circuit protection. (11)Power good with programmable delay time. (12)5V and 3.3V linear regulators. Some absolute maximum ratings of TPS5140PAG have been concluded as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be from -0.3V to 30V. (2)Its input voltage would be from -0.3V to 7V for PGOUT, EXT_PG and would be from -0.3V to 30V for VCC_SENSE12/3, LL1/2/3 and would be from -0.3V to 16V for LL_UP, OUT_12V, IN_12V and would be from -0.3V for 35V for LH1/2/3, OUT1/2/3_u and would be from -0.3V to 3V for REF. (3)Its operating free-air temperature range would be from -20°C to 85°C. (4)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 155°C.
