The TPA series are TRISIL devices especially designed for protecting sensitive telecommunication equipment against lightning and transient voltages induced by AC power lines.They are available in the DO-15 axial package. TRISIL devices provide bidirectional protection by crowbar action. Their characteristic response to transient overvoltages makes them particularly suited to protect voltage sensitive telecommunication equipment.It has four unique features: The first one is bidirectional crowbar protection. The second one is voltage rating is from 62 V to 270 V. The third one is holding current which is 150 mA min. The last one is repetitive pulse current which is 50 A,10/1000 us.
There are some absolute maximum ratings about TPA series when Tamb is 25. Power dissipation on infinite heatsink(P)(Tamb = 50 °C) is 1.7 W. Peak pulse current(IPP )(10/1000 us) is 50 A or is 100 A(8/20 ms). Non repetitive surge peak on-state current(ITSM)(tp = 20 ms) is 30 A. I2t value for fusing(I2t )(tp = 20 ms) is 9 A2s.Critical rate of rise of off-state voltage(dV/dt, VRM) is 5 kV/ms.Storage temperature range(Tstg) is - 55°C to + 150°C.Maximum junction temperature(Tj) is 150°C.Otherwise,there are some thermal resistances about it. Junction to leads (Llead = 10mm)(Rth (j-l)) is 60 °C/W.Junction to ambient on printed circuit (Llead = 10 mm)(Rth (j-a))is 100 °C/W.
