The TEA1042 is designed as a bipolar integrated circuit performing all speech and line interface functions in electronic telephone sets. It is especially designed for handsfree loudspeaking equipment.
TEA1042 has many features. The first one is supplied from telephone line current. The second one is voltage regulator with adjustable DC voltage drop and DC resistance. The third one is high and low impedance handset microphone inputs. The fourth one is high impedance base microphone input. The fifth one is handset / base selection input. The sixth one is multing input for pulse or DTMF dialling. The seventh one is gain setting facility on all amplifiers. The eighth one is line current dependent gain control facility with corrections for the exchange supply voltage and its feeding bridge resistance. The ninth one is supply output for additional circuits. That are all the main features.
Some important specifications of TEA1042 have been concluded into several points as follow. The first one is about its line voltage at Iline = 15mA which would be typ 4.2V. The second one is about its line current operating range which would be from 10 to 140mA. The third one is about its telephone line impedance which would be nom 600. The fourth one is about its supply current which would be typ 1mA. The fifth one is about its voltage gain, transmitting amplifier which would be typ 44.1dB for MIC1 input and typ 20dB for MIC2 input and typ 20dB for MIC3 input and typ 25.6dB for DTMF input. The sixth one is about its voltage gain, receiving amplifier which would be typ 27dB. The seventh one is about its gain adjustment range which would be ±6 dB for transmitting amplifier and ±8 dB receiving amplifier. The eighth one is about its range of gain control with line current, all amplifiers which would be 6dB. The ninth one is about its exchange supply voltage range which would be from 24V to 60V.
