The TDA9950 is designed as one kind of single-chip CEC/I2C-bus translator device that dedicated to the control and interfacing of the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC), a feature of the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI). And this device can be used in (1)All devices using an HDMI connector; (2)YCBCR or RGB high-speed video digitizer; (3)Projector, plasma and LCD TV; (4)Rear-projection TV; (5)High-end TV; (6)Home-theater amplifier; (7)DVD recorder applications.

Features of the TDA9950 are:(1)Receive and transmit CEC messages with compliant Signal Free Time handling; (2)I2C-bus interface to host supporting 100 kbit/s and 400 kbit/s communication; (3)Supports multiple CEC logical addresses; (4)Supports CEC messages up to 16 bytes in length; (5)Programmable retry count; (6)Comprehensive arbitration and collision handling; (7)3.0 V to 3.6 V VDD operating range; (8)Automatic Idle mode to reduce power consumption when there is no message on CEC line and I2C-bus; (9)I/O pins are 5 V tolerant; (10)On-chip oscillator for 12 MHz crystal; (11)Schmitt trigger port inputs.
