TCA730A

The TCA730A is designed as a monolithic integrated circuit for controlling volume and balance in stereo amplifiers by means of a d.c. voltage.

TCA730A has six features. (1)Physiological volume control. (2)Balance control. (3)Internal amplifier. (4)High ohmic signal inputs. (5)Internal supply voltage stabilization. (6)Converter for the control voltage. Those are all the main features.

Some absolute maximum ratings of TCA730A have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its supply voltage (pin 8) would be max 18V. (2)Its input voltage would be min 0V and max Vp. (3)Its control voltage would be min -5V and max 12V. (4)Its total power dissipation would be max 900mW. (5)Its storage temperature range would be from -55°C to 150°C. (6)Its operating ambient temperature range would be from -30°C to 80°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.

Also some electrical characteristics of TCA730A are concluded as follow. (1)Its supply voltage range (pin 8) would be from 13.5V to 16.5V. (2)Its supply current would be typ 35mA and would be from 25mA to 43mA. (3)Its voltage gain range would be from 0 to 20dB. (4)Its voltage gain at V13-15=9.5V would be typ 20dB and would be from 18dB to 22dB. (5)Its voltage attenuation range would be from 0 to -80dB. (6)Its voltage attenuation at V13-15=3V would be larger than -75dB and would be typ -80dB. (7)Its balance control range at Gv=-10dB would be from +5dB to -7dB. (8)Its recommended control voltage range would be from 2V to 9.5V for volume and would be from 2.5V to 9.0V for balance. (9)Its control voltage for Gv=-10dB, V12-10=0 would be from 6.7V to 7.1V. (10)Its control voltage for balance 0dB V13-15-6.9V would be typ 0V +/-0.2V. (11)Its internal supply voltage would be typ 5.9V and would be from 5.7V to 6.1V. (12)Its output resistance pin 10 would be typ 3kohms. (13)Its control current volume would be typ 15uA and would be max 50uA. And so on.
