The TCA5550 is designed as a single chip stereo balance, volume, bass, treble control circuit for use in car radios, TV and audio systems. Simple DC inputs allow the control to be affected by four inexpensive potentiometers or a remote control system. The bass and treble responses are defined by a single capacitor per control per channel.
TCA5550 has nine features. (1)Four high impedance DC controls. (2)A single external capacitor define each tone control characteristic. (3)Low distortion, 0.1% at nominal input level, unity gain with the tone control flat. (4)Channel separation better then 45dB. (5)Wide power supply tolerance, 10 to 16Vdc. (6)+/-14dB of tone control. (7)More than 75dB of volume control. (8)Wide dynamic range: 100mV to 500mVrms input signal. (9)Low output impedance. Those are all the main features.
Some absolute maximum ratings of TCA5550 have been concluded into several points as follow. (1)Its power supply voltage would be 16V. (2)Its power dissipation would be 1250mW and derate above Ta=+25°C would be 10mW/°C. (3)Its operating temperature range (ambient) would be from -40°C to 85°C. (4)Its storage temperature range would be from -85°C to 150°C. It should be noted that stresses above those listed in absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to device.
Also some electrical characteristics of TCA5550 are concluded as follow. (1)Its supply voltage would be min 10V and max 16V. (2)Its supply current would be typ 30ma for min gain and would be typ 15mA for max gain. (3)Its regulated output voltage would be typ 5.0V and would be max 3.0mA for current.
