Description

The SN65LBC184P is designed as one kind of differential data line transceiver that can withstand overvoltage transients of 400 W peak (typical). SN65LBC184P also includes additional desirable features for party-line data buses in electrically noisy environment applications including industrial process control, and SN65LBC184P also includes a high input resistance equivalent to one-half unit load allowing connection of up to 64 similar devices on the bus.

Features of the SN65LBC184P are:(1)circuit damage protection of 400 W peak (typical); (2)controlled driver output-voltage slew rates allows longer cable stub lengths; (3)250-kbits/s in electrically noisy environments; (4)open-circuit fail-safe receiver design; (5)1/2 unit load allows for 64 devices connected on bus; (6)thermal shutdown protection; (7)power-up/-down glitch protection; (8)each transceiver meets or exceeds the requirements of EIA RS-485 and ISO/IEC 8482:1993(E) standards; (9)low disabled supply current 300 mA max; (10)pin compatible with SN75176.
